Subrat SaurabhAuthor of Kuch Woh PalTo the civilian, life in the services seems to be full of glamour and glitter …
But what is it like in reality? Is it just the (perceived) comforts, privileges, household staff, dedicated healthcare services, parties, et al?
What is it actually like for the people living this life, far removed from their native roots, especially for the wives, who have to adjust to a totally different life style, while maintaining the prestige of their husbands’ positions, and taking care of the families’ needs?
This collection of real life stories is a narration by one such Navy wife, covering her transition from a sheltered young girl in the southern city of Thiruvananthapuram, to her life in the major metropolises, and even abroad, as the wife of a very senior officer.
Written with sensitivity and gentle humour, the stories are a great read, throwing light on the private lives of these guardians of our frontiers, which all of us have been curious to know about…
Letha Sushil (Sona)
Mrs. Letha Sushil better known as Sona to all her friends and family, grew up in the small capital of Kerala Thiruvananthapuram. She is an avid story teller, capturing the imagination of her kids both at home and at school, spanning generations. She’s made her kids laugh whether at her accent or at her incredibly real stories.
Having been married to a man in uniform humor has been the one element that has weathered both of them through the highs and lows of life in the Navy. From long separations to missed birthdays, impromptu dinners and official galas, Admiral and Mrs. Sushil have personified humor in and out of uniform.
Sona’s Tales are just a small preview into her life and experiences from a young girl in Kerala to her life in the Navy.
She hopes these tales will bring a smile to your face and be able to look back fondly at similar experiences in your own life.
