T. A. Padmanabhan was Chief General Manager in the State Bank Group. He joined the bank in 1972 as a probationary officer after a stint as an apprentice engineer in a manufacturing company.
He has held various senior positions in industrial finance, retail banking, foreign exchange and treasury management. He has worked in cities across India and also had a posting abroad.
He was a guest faculty at the staff training colleges of State Bank of India, Reserve Bank of India and ExIm Bank of India. He has given guest lectures at management institutes.
He retired from banking service in 2008 and was head of finance for over five years in an industrial machinery manufacturing company.
He lives with his wife in Bangalore. He has a daughter who lives in the United States.
