Dr. Meghna Venkat

Dr. Meghna Venkat is a Bharatanatyam artist. Her dissertation, "The Impact of Rasa Sutra on Bharatanatyam," was the subject of her doctorate in dance. She is an empanelled artist of The Ministry of Culture, Govt of India. She is a graded artist of Doordarshan. Selected for lectureship under UGC-NET Central Government examination. She is a recipient of awards like Natya Chemmal, Nrutya Kowmudhi, Nritya Shiromani to mention a few. She has established ‘Nritya Nadam Vidhyalaya’, a school imparting training in Fine Arts.

She conducts a binniel festival named Aikyam - an International Thematic Dance festival. She has also conducted an Online Arts Initiative named, Bridge the Gap initiative, during the first wave of the pandemic, which was first of its kind. Through the initiative she collected Rs.1.85 lakhs and donated the entire amount to artists who were in need of support. Under the Aikyam establishment, she provides scholarship to 15 impoverished school children for their academics and also trains them in dance. She has been honoured with ‘women empowerment award’ for the upliftment of girl children.

Ten years through her career as a performer, she has rendered performances in several prestigious festivals in India and abroad and part of several renowned productions. She also conducts workshops. She is a district player in badminton sport. A district topper in academics and acquainted in Rangoli making. She is also a homemaker and happily married with a child who keeps her busy.
