Dr. K. Maheswaran Nair
K Maheswaran Nair took his Masters in Sanskrit (Vedanta) with first class first rank from the University of Kerala in 1971. He took his Masters in Russian Lang. and Lit. in 1975 and Ph.D. in Sanskrit in 1989 from the same university. He retired from the University of Kerala as Professor of Sanskrit and Hon.Director of the Centre for Vedanta Studies. He has been teaching Sanskrit for the last fifty years in India and abroad.
He has given Sanskrit courses, lectures etc at the Universities of Vienna (Austria), Bucharest and Sibiu (Romania), Brussels (Belgium), Minsk (Belarus), Oxford, Cambridge and Edinborough (UK) , Hamburg (Germany) and Russia.
While learning Russian, the methodology followed by the teachers in teaching Russian impressed him very much. He decided to compile a Sanskrit primer using the same methodology.
He compiled a few lessons and used the same for teaching Sanskrit to native as well as foreign students and found it much useful. He further developed the same and it is being published in this book form.
