The present book is a collection of brief write-ups which were posted intermittently on a social media platform. Target readers for the present book are common people who have some interest in topics related to psychiatry, psychology, medicine, arts, and philosophy.
For the benefit of the readers, the book is divided into five chapters: creativity and mental health, a collection of random thoughts, brief essays on various topics on schizophrenia, different shades in the clinical presentation of depression and a collection of clinical vignettes in various neuro-psychiatric illnesses. A special feature of this book is the collection of comments/discussion posted by the author’s social media friends, in many of the write-ups.
Major (Dr) Aich hopes that the students and people from various strata of life, irrespective of their profession and position, will accept the book whole-heartedly.
Major (DR) Tapas Kumar Aich MD
After completing his MBBS, Dr Tapas Kumar Aich served in the Army Medical Corps (AMC) as a Short Service Commissioned (SSC) officer. Subsequently, he completed his DPM and MD in Psychiatry from the prestigious Central Institute of Psychiatry (CIP), Ranchi.
After becoming a qualified psychiatrist, Dr Aich chose a teaching job, initially in a medical college in Nepal. He has presented academic research papers at more than 50 national and international conferences and published more than 40 scientific research papers, review articles, book-chapters till date. It was during the Covid-19 lockdown period that Dr Aich first time tried his hand in an autobiographical writing. His first book titled “My Army Days- Memoir of a Psychiatrist” was published last year (2022).
Major (Dr) Tapas Kumar Aich is currently working as a Professor and the Head of the Department of Psychiatry at Baba Raghav Das (BRD) Medical College, Gorakhpur, in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India.
