The prayers and teachings of my grandmother have always been the driving force in my smooth life. Hadiabad (Phagwara), where I grew up, may not be related to any incident that occurred during the Ramayana era, but Lord Hanuman’s blessings have certainly played a major role in my existence. When my grandmother received the message of my arrival in the world from my maternal grandmother’s dwelling in Jagraon, her happiness knew no bounds. She immediately went to Chadha’s temple and wholeheartedly begged for my long life before Lord Hanuman. In return, she vowed and committed herself to pray every evening. It was a very emotional moment for her as my parents had lost all four children within a week of their birth previously. She always had great faith in her Lord. She kept her words till she breathed her last in June 1984, the month of my birth. She had walked daily to the shrine barefoot for 31 years regardless of the severity of weather or her health. I dedicate every success in life to my grandmother.
After my basic education from the Government school Hadiabad (Phagwara), I stayed with my aunty (Bhuaji) and uncle in Kartarpur to continue my further education. They always cared for me like their own sons. While doing Commerce Degree from DAV college Jalandhar, my parents arranged my engagement to Janak in England without me ever having to meet her or to communicate with her. I respected their decision as I thought no parent would do anything wrong for their child. I joined Janak in 1977 after completing my Post Graduation in Economics. My father wanted me to be a Lawyer, but I ended up in the United Kingdom selling sports goods, spirits, wines and beers as well as general groceries. I have been in the retail business since Christmas Eve 1977 but bought my independent business in May 1981. I am a non-smoker, vegetarian and teetotaller despite owning a shop selling nearly everything.

All the magnificent places in Sri Lanka where the tales and legends took place still exist today and can be visited. They bring wonderful history of the Ramayana to life. Janaki Temple and Dhanush Dham in Nepal are idyllic places to explore. The desire to explore the world has always been a driving force within me. I caught the travelling bug when I married to my wife, Janak in 1977. Coming to England opened many opportunities to traverse all around the world. The visit to Ayodhya Dham lit a spark in me and led me to many wonderous places.
