After his schooling at the Hindu School, graduation from the Presidency College, and post-graduation from the Calcutta University, all in Calcutta with distinction in the academic field, Mr. Paramananda Pal entered upon varied fields of profession, traversed various places and came into acquaintance with people in different strata of society. Initially, he served as a lecturer in a government college at Jhargram, and later, he became a management trainee in the Steel Authority of India (Hindustan Steel) in 1973. The next year, he joined a leading nationalized bank as a probationary officer. In the bank, he took various responsible positions and rose to the position of a senior management executive before his retirement in 2009. In the course of his long exposure to different fields of life and society, he has observed with keen interest the ongoing scenario around, the players on the scene and has penned his experience about them in his own inimitable way. His creative write-ups have already earned appreciation in the press and literary journal. The media reviewers have mentioned the stories about the author’s varied experience in the city and urban life.
