A Silicon Valley-based serial entrepreneur, engineer, investor, and public servant, Karl N. Mehta serves as Chairman of Quad Investors Network, leading cross-border investments and technical collaborations between the four Quad Nations in partnership with their respective governments, particularly in areas of critical and emerging technology (CET).
Previously, he was founder and CEO of EdCast Inc., an AI platform for learning, subsequently acquired by Cornerstone; and PlaySpan Inc., a virtual currency-based fintech platform, acquired by VISA.
In 2012-13, he served as Presidential Innovation Fellow at the White House under the Obama administration and was also appointed on California’s Workforce Development Board by Governor Brown in 2014. He won “Entrepreneur of the Year” award by E&Y for Silicon Valley in 2010 and was recently selected as a “Tech Pioneer” by the World Economic Forum.
Karl is founder of Code For India, a non-profit organization based in Mountain View, CA and Bangalore, India. “Think Local, Hack Global” is the mantra for Code For India engineers who are building apps that empower marginalized communities with technology-based solutions to solve public service problems.
With Carol Realini, Karl is the co-author of the book Financial Inclusion at the Bottom of the Pyramid (foreword by Prof. Jeffrey Sachs of Columbia University), which is used as a textbook in many universities for social entrepreneurship.
